KC-30A Capability Development Engineer – Technical Data Link - RAAF Base Amberley

Aircraft Structural Contractors are currently searching for Capability Development Engineers (Technical Data Link) for an upcoming role in Amberley, QLD. This position is required from early June, for a period of 2-3x months (with possible monthly extensions thereafter).


Candidates must have:
  • Minimum 7 years as a Professional Engineer in the aviation industry/ Defence Aviation
  • Experience in Project Engineering practices
  • Knowledge & demonstrated understanding of the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations, or equivalent regulatory framework.
  • Experience in Aircraft Avionics Integration
  • Experienced with Link 16 Technical Data Link (TDL) implementation on ADF platforms, preferably aircraft platforms
  • Experience working in a CAMO or CAM Services organisation and an understanding of CAM requirements
  • Experience within a 21.J Design Organisation developing Design Changes
  • Experience in Systems Engineering practices
  • Have experience with or an understanding of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) requirements and concepts
  • Present or past Design Approval Authorisation holder or CVE in either a military or civil airworthiness regulatory framework
  • Understanding of Configuration Management concepts utilised by the ADF and/or Civil Operators.
  • Experience in delivering new aircraft capabilities within the Defence Capability Development framework.
  • Experience with Enovia (eMatrix) or similar Engineering Management Systems.
  • Experience with MS Office products.
  • Proven analytical and reporting skills.
  • Strong team player, with ability to work as part of a larger group or independently
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the KC-30A/Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) integration via the Joint Network Design Tasking Request
  • Review and coordinate the external review of Link 16 Deliverables
  • Development of Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP) including Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) elements
  • Development of engineering instruments to facilitate project success
  • Ensure engineering outputs are compliant with relevant airworthiness regulations and requirements
  • Ensure that engineering outputs will deliver operational results that meet the corporate and customer requirements, and adhere at all times with the policy, procedures and processes as endorsed by the business and customer.
  • Engage greater KC-30A Engineering Community to ensure delivery of planned outcomes
  • Review project related technical information
  • Review and approve engineering instruments in accordance with level of authority granted, if any
  • Monitor and accurately update the engineering tasking database
  • Maintain oversight of and manage the configuration of the KC-30A platform as impacted by a project’s engineering outputs 
  • Investigate and resolve system level technical issues cooperatively with the greater KC-30A Engineering Community as required
  • Project Engineering tasks including but not limited to;

    • Requirements analysis and determination
    • Prepare, schedule and monitor assigned engineering and technical tasks
    • Liaison between Project Manager and other engineering disciplines involved in a project
    • Primary technical point of contact for a project
    • Identify engineering and technical risks
    • Provide technical input to project documentation, i.e; Statement of Work/Requirements, Survey and Quote, Request for Information/Quote etc.
  • Support project management activities through provision of timely information regarding current activities and risks
  • Generating reports to identify progress of engineering tasks for a given project
  • Provide clear and concise communications to stakeholders
  • Undertake or investigate any other engineering or technical activities relating to a given project as requested by CAPDEV Engineering Lead or assigned CAPDEV Project Manager
  • Provide engineering support to other KC-30A Engineering Operations teams on an as required basis as directed by the CAPDEV Engineering Lead and/or CAPDEV Manager

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers - Mechanical - Newcastle NSW, Australia

Our client requires 6x additional Mechanical AME's to carry out heavy maintenance on the RAAF fleet of F/A-18 Hornet (A & B models), at RAAF Williamtown, NSW.

Industry-leading rates apply for this role.

Previous F/A-18 or fast jet experience is a must, however, fixed wing or previous defence experience will also be considered.
